Kids Christmas and New Years Crafts

by Lynn Lilly, Nov 08 2022

Tis' the season for crafting. Winter break leaves a lot of time to fill with the kiddos. I can help with that! Today on my Crayola Facebook Live  broadcast I have 3 crafts that will inspire your kids creativity.  I am sharing the step by step instructions to make a Santa cookie tray, a Santa and gingerbread person banner and a New Years Eve countdown shaker.

Christmas Crafts for Kids

All the supplies I used today can be purchased at Crayola.com

Project 1: Santa Cookie Tray

I love this project because your kids create the cookie tray design on a piece of construction paper and then parent's, you can add it to any tray you have at home with glue dots. After the big guy eats his cookies and milk and Christmas is over you can take out the construction paper and go back to using the tray for other things!

Materials:

  • Crayola Construction Paper
  • Crayola Glitter Glue
  • Crayola Glitter Pens
  • Crayola Markers
  • Crayola Washable Glue Stick
  • Pencil
  • Glue Dots
  • Entertaining Tray
  • Scissors

Kids Holiday Crafts

Directions:

Use my design as an inspiration but let your kiddos decorate a piece of construction paper for Santa's cookies and milk. Don't forget the reindeers. If they use glitter glue make sure it is fully dry before putting the paper on the tray.

Santa is definitely going to love this treat!

Project 3: New Years Eve Countdown Clock and Shaker

This is a fun craft that the kiddos can use to countdown to the midnight (or whatever time you decide) and shake when the clock strikes the new year!

Materials:

  • 2 Paper Plates
  • Dry Pasta/Beads/Dry Beans
  • Ruler
  • Crayola Glitter Glue
  • Crayola Black Cardstock
  • Crayola Black Construction Paper
  • Crayola Washable Liquid Glue

  • 1 Brad

Directions:

  1. Flip one paper plate bottom side up. Use a ruler to segment the clock and draw dashes where each hour on the clock.
  2. Use a pencil to poke a hole in the center.
  3. Cut out two clock hands. Poke holes in the end of each clock hand.
  4. Feed the brad through the clock hands and then through the hole in the plate and bend the arms back to secure. The hands will still move.
  5. Cut strips of black construction paper that are 1"x 9" and roll each strip around the pencil. It will curl the paper.
  6. Glue the ends of each roll around the plate.
  7. Place dried pasta/beads/beans in the second plate. Glue the two plates together.
  8. Use the glitter glue to write the hours on the paper plate.
  9. Let the plate dry before the countdown begins!

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
