Spring is here and nothing brightens up a room more than fresh flowers. My spring calendar is filled with hosting dinner parties, brunches and showers, all requiring a little creativity to surprise and delight my guests. These simple do-it-yourself flower napkin rings are the perfect touch to spruce up any table setting. The best part is that they function as both a napkin ring and place card.
Materials:
Large Flowers (Lilies, Roses)
Accent Flowers (Baby’s Breath, Berries)
Floral Wire
Floral Tape
Thin Ribbon
Sharp Scissors
Marker
Hole Punch
Card Stock Paper
Directions:
- Using the scissors, cut the stems of your large flowers and accent flowers to about 2 inches. Take your floral wire and wrap tightly in a spiral motion around the stems of the flowers. Wrap tight enough to hold the flowers together in a bundle. Once you reach the end of the stem, unravel about 6 inches of floral wire and cut the end.
- Starting at the base of the flower, wrap the stem all the way down to the end of the wire with floral tape. Cut the end of the floral tape and wrap the end until there is no excess. Bend the excess wire to create a spiral.
- Cut small tags out of the card stock paper. Write your guests’ names on each tag. Use the hole punch to punch a hole at the end of each tag.
- Cut a 3-inch piece of floral wire. Attach the tag to the base of the flower using the wire. Leave a little space between the flower and tag. Twist to secure and trim the ends of the wire or tuck behind the tag.
- Cut about 8 inches of ribbon for each napkin ring.
- Roll your napkins.
- Thread the ribbon through the opening between the tag and the flower. Wrap the ribbon around the center of the napkin roll and tie a bow to secure the flower.
Tip: If you are making these the day before your party, sprinkle the flowers with water and store in the refrigerator.
