It's Fall Yall! It might not feel like fall in my hometown of Atlanta but I sure can pretend and get in the mood with decorations and pumpkin spice everything! I partnered with Aleene's to create Fall decor with their Matte and Gloss Decoupage. I decided to challenge myself to create two different decorations using two of the same base surfaces! I can't wait to see which one you like best! Ready..set.... Make!
2 Sets of Materials, 2 Designs.... Let's Make!
Falling for Fall Sign
Materials:
- Wood Mason Jar Surface (5" x 9")
- Wood Sign
- Aleene’s Gloss Decoupage (8" x 15")
- Aleene’s Tacky Glue
- Decorative Paper
- Letter Cut-Outs (buy pre-cut or cut with cutting machine)
- Foam Brushes
- Ribbon
Directions:
- Cut a piece of paper to fit the inside of the sign. I used a 12" x 12" piece of paper. It did not fit the 15" inch length of the sign but the wood mason jar will cover it up so no worries!
- Brush the Aleene's Gloss Decoupage on the base of the sign. Brush a coat on the back of the sheet of paper you cut in step 2.
- Place the paper on the surface of the sign and smooth out bubbles with your fingers. Set aside for now.
- Cut a piece of decorative paper to fit within the parameters of the wood mason jar.
- Brush decoupage on the surface of the mason jar and the back of the paper.
- Place the paper on the mason jar and smooth out air bubbles with fingers.
- Brush a top coat over the entire mason jar.
- Place paper words on the wet surface of paper. These could be pre-cut letters or ones you can cut on a cutting machine.
- Use a foam spouncer brush to apply the decoupage over the letters and then smooth out the decoupage with a larger brush.
- Tie a bow around the neck of the mason jar.
- Glue the mason jar to the sign with the Aleene's Tacky Glue.
- Brush a coat of decoupage over the base of the sign. Add cut-out words on the wet paper.
- Use the foam spouncer to apply decoupage over the words. Smooth out excess decoupage with a brush.
- Let it dry before displaying!!!
Alright, here we go with the second sign using the same two bases.
