Today it's all about crafts your kids can continue to play with long after they are done making them. I am continuing my partnership with Crayola to help inspire their community with at home crafts during my bi-weekly live broadcasts on their Facebook page. Below you will find three crafts you kids will love to make and enjoy playing with!
Project 1: Shoebox Guitar
Materials:
- Crayola Construction Paper
- Crayola Bright Pop Paper Pad
- Crayola Markers
- Crayola Glue
- Paper Towel Roll
- 6 Medium/Large Rubber Bands
- 6 Small Buttons
- Xacto Knife (parent use only)
- Scissors
- Hot Glue
Directions:
- Cut a rectangle out of the top of the shoebox lid. (parents use the xacto knife with caution)
- Cut a piece of the Bright Pop paper to fit the inside of the shoebox. Glue to the inside bottom of the box.
- Glue the shoe box lid on to the box.
- Trace the end of the paper towel roll on the side of the shoe box and cut out a circle (parent job with xacto knife).
- Cover and glue construction paper around the paper towel roll.
- Stretch three of the rubber bands around the ends of the paper towel roll.
- Insert the toilet paper roll into the shoe box.
- Hot glue 3 buttons along each side of the main opening cut in the shoe box. Apply a large dollop of hot glue and lightly set the button on. You want the button to be raised.
- Once the hot glue is dry stretch rubber bands around the opening and hook on the buttons.
- Cut out some sections of patterns from from the Bright Pop paper paper pad to decorate the guitar. Use Crayola Markers to add fund designs.
- Have your kiddos sign the guitar as they are the star of this show!
Project 2: Rock Tic Tac Toe
Materials:
- Crayola Acrylic Paint and Brushes
- Crayola Construction Paper
- Crayola Glue
- Rocks
- Scissors
Directions:
- Collect 10 rocks outside. Wash and dry rocks.
- Paint 5 rocks one color and 5 rocks another color.
- Paint X's on one color set and O's or hearts on the other set.
- Cut a 12"x12" square from construction paper (you can adjust the size based on the size of the rocks). Cut and glue thin strips of construction paper to make the squares on the board.
- Get ready for tons of fun games!
