Just like our Mom, Dad has a special place in our heart. Although we should be appreciating Dad every day of the year lets make him feel a little extra special this Father's Day. Making your Dad feel special doesn't have to break the bank. I created 5 simple gifts for every type of Dad that will make him smile and not send you to the poor house!
Check out what I am DIYing......
1. The Sentimental Dad..... Heat Stamped Picture Frames
Materials:
Use the wood burning tool and the stamp attachments to create a message on the wooden frame. Use the pliers to change the letters as the tool is really hot. Practice stamping on a scrap piece of wood before doing it on your frame. My recommendation is to let the tool heat up for 4-5 minutes. Attach a letter and let it heat up for 30 seconds. Firmly press tool into the wood for 15-20 seconds and lift straight up.
2. The Grill Master Dad.... Custom Grill Plate & Tools
Materials:
- Wood Burning Tool
- Wood Burning Stamps
- Wood Handle Grill Tools
- Porcelain Plate
- Porcelain Marker
- Sticker Letters
Create a message on your porcelain plate using the sticker letters. I printed the cow outline below and traced it along with the stickers letters using the porcelain marker. Once you design has dried remove the sticker letters and any stencils. Place plate in a cold oven. Heat oven for 225 for 20 minutes. Turn oven off and let it cool for 2 hours before removing the plate. Stamp your grill tools using the same method above is project 1.
3. The Thirsty Dad.... Cocktail Kit with a Custom Frosted Rocks Glass
Materials:
Create a cocktail kit using your dad's favorite liquor and mixers. Add a personalized touch with frosted rocks glass. To create the rocks glass, firmly apply the letter stickers. Next cover a surface in a well-ventilated area or outside. Turn glass upside down so the opening is facing down. Spray the Krylon Sea Glass spray paint by making large sweeping motions about 6 inches from the glass. Apply multiple coats letting them dry for 5-10 minutes in between coats. Let the last coat dry for 30 minutes before removing the stickers. Next, apply a light coat of the Modge Podge Dishwasher Safe and let it dry for 15 minutes before assembling your kit!
4. The Caffeinated Dad.... Custom Coffee Mug
Materials:
- Coffee Mug
- Variety of colorful Sharpies Markers
- Sticker Letters
This is the perfect craft for kids! Firmly apply the sticker letters to the coffee mug. Go to town scribbling with the Sharpie markers coloring over and around the letters. Let the mug dry for 10 minutes before removing the stickers. To cure the mug, place it in a cold oven, heat it to 225 for 20 minutes, turn the oven off and let it cool for 2 hours before removing the mug. Fill with your dads favorite coffee or K Cups.
5. The Doggy Dad.... Pawfect Painting
Materials:
- Dog (s)
- Non-Toxic Paint
- Paper
- Sponge
- Frame
I am not going to lie, this one was challenging. But there are plenty of Dad's to doggies and they deserve a little something sweet. I took my dogs paws and used a sponge to cover one paw pad with paint and pressed it onto the piece of paper. I repeated this step multiple times with two of my dogs. When I was done stamping I rinsed off their paw in the sink with soap and water. The paint came right out!
