Apple Chips

Late summer and early fall is the perfect time to go apple picking. With so many apples in your basket, there are tons of recipes that go well with fresh picked apples.  I recommend baking apple chips. The warm aroma of sweet gala apples, cinnamon, sugar, nutmeg and all spice floating through the air smells so wonderful and delicious. The scent will definitely put you in the fall spirit. These apple chips are so yummy, you may want to make a few extra batches and give it away as gifts. Your friends will love you for it.
Ingredients:
3 whole apples, washed
1/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons Apple Pie Spice
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees.  Line a sheet of parchment paper on a large baking sheet. You will need 3 sheets for 3 batches. Set aside.
2. Combine sugar and Apple Pie Spice in a small bowl. Mix well.
3.Slice apples. Cut apples crosswise into 1/8 -inch slices or as thin as possible.
4. Sprinkle sugar and spice mix on both sides of the apple slices.
5. Bake for 2 - 2 1/2 hours. Turn the apples every 30 minutes. Let cool on wire rack.
NOTE: You can store the apple chips in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
Enjoy!
