DIY Notebook Covers

by Laura Carrozza, Jul 31 2017

I made these back in summer camp when I was a kid and always thought it would be fun to make these again. If you're about to head back to college or if you have little ones at home, this is a fun idea to jazz up a boring notebook.

What you'll need:

  • Composition notebooks
  • Scrapbook paper/wallpaper/contact paper/wrapping paper, etc
  • Mod Podge
  • Scissors or rotary blade
  • Markers, washi tape, anything to decorate

Step One:

Figure out what kind of paper you would like to cover your notebook with. If you are using contact paper, chances are you won't need glue to adhere it to the notebook. So, you will begin by painting on a thin layer of Mod Podge on your composition notebook and then gently applying the paper. Smooth it out with a credit card. That will help remove all the air bubbles.

Step Two:

Wrap the edges of the paper around the notebook cover and secure with Mod Podge on the inside cover. Wait until completely dry and then remove any excess paper with scissors or rotary blade.

Step Three:

Decorate the notebook with your name, class subject, etc by using markers and washi tape and any other stickers or decorations you can find.

Enjoy and bring on the new school year!
