DIY Spring Purse Accessories
I have been seeing adorable pom poms and tassels accessorizing purses everywhere this season! Even extremely high-end purses are modeling these little details on their bags. I cannot help but think, every time I see one of these bags, that I can make these myself!
Making DIY pom poms and tassels are beyond easy and inexpensive. All you need is some yarn and a pair of scissors! I love the idea of adding these to beach bags to give it a little bit of a pop, and that is exactly what I did! I wanted to show you how you can make both the pom poms and the tassels, AND how they both would look on the same bag. You can get really creative with this, and add them all over the bag, or any way you like.
DIY Spring Purse Accessories
Supplies:
A purse/bag
Yarn; you can use different colors if you like
Scissors; use fabric scissors if you have them
Hot glue gun
Pom Pom Directions:
*Wrap the yarn around your hand, making sure to count how many times you wrap it, so that if you are making more pom poms, you will want to wrap it the same amount of times so that they are the same size; for these, I wrapped about 45 times
*Once you are done wrapping, carefully slide the yard off of your hand and wrap a piece of yarn around the center of the entire circle of yarn; reference the pictures below
*Tie the piece of yarn tightly in the center, and double knot
*Use the scissors to cut the loops open on both sides of the circle; reference pictures below
*Fluff with your hands
*Use the scissors to cut the ends of the pom pom so that they are all even, and it looks full
*Glue the pom poms onto a string of yarn with a hot glue gun, and string them onto your bag however you desire
Tassel Directions:
*Wrap the yarn around your hand, making sure to count how many times you wrap the yarn, so that if you make more tassels, they will all be about the same size
*While keeping the yarn on your hand, take another small piece of yarn and wrap it around one side of the circle; reference pictures below
*Tightly tie the yarn, and double knot it
*Use the scissors to cut the part of the circle that is exactly opposite of the side that is tied with yarn; reference pictures
*Fold the yarn in half, and take another piece of yarn to tie at the top to create a tassel; reference pictures below
*Use the scissors to cut the bottom of the tassel to make sure the yarn is even at the bottom
*Use a hot glue gun to attach the tassels to a longer piece of yarn, and attach to your bag however you desire
