Thanksgiving Handprint Kids Craft

Lily is a little too young to craft on her own but we are starting to do fun mommy and me crafts. I am loving Martha Stewart's new Family Friendly Multi-Surface Acrylic Paint. Not only is it safe for the whole family but you can use it on multiple surfaces including fabric. I will be sharing my favorite family and kid-friendly projects over the next few months in partnership with Martha Stewart.

These new craft paints are compliant with a wide range of safety standards set by the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). This law, implemented in 2008, bans lead in products geared toward children ages 12 and under and prohibits the use of dangerous substances in plastics. Choose from more than 80 bright and cheerful colors and six beautiful finishes – satin, glitter, pearl, metallic, neon, and glow-in-the-dark. Make craft time easier for young ones with durable tools like a basic brush set and adhesive paper stencils in fun patterns and shapes like nautical, animals, space, and flowers. Both are CPSIA-compliant, so all you need to worry about is enjoying family time.

Not only are these paints safe for everyone in the family but they are a great excuse to create projects together or create the perfect project for your favorite little person.

To get ready for Thanksgiving Lily and I made handprint turkey napkins! These linen napkins look great on the table and are a great memory of Lily's second Thanksgiving. Last year she was born the day before Thanksgiving and this year we are celebrating her first birthday on Thanksgiving. I hope you love this craft as much as I do. Materials:

Martha Stewart Family Friendly Multi-Surface Acrylic Paint in Strawberry (Satin), Orangie Floatie (Satin), Sunshine Yellow (Satin), Tree Trunk Brown (Satin), Royal Gold (Metallic)
Martha Stewart Adhesive Laser Cut Stencil, Harvest
Martha Stewart Brushes & Pouncers
White Fabric Napkin
Ribbon/Trim
Fabric Glue

Step by Step Instructions:

Fold the napkin like you would display it on your table. Place a piece of cardboard in between the laters to prevent bleeding.
Remove backing of the Thankful adhesive stencil and firmly press in place on the napkin.
Use the pouncer to dab the Royal Gold paint on the stencil. Offload excess paint on a paper towel after each dip of the pouncer in the paint. I accented the design under the stencil with the Orange Floating color paint.
Remove stencil while the paint is still wet.
Time to get your little one involved. Lily was too young to set her hand in paint so I used a paintbrush to paint the Tree Trunk Brown on her hand.
Next stamp your littles hand under the Thankful stencil. Lightly press their hand to make sure you get a full print. You can always touch up with a brush and paint.
Use the detail brushes to add a turkey beak, wattle, feet and feathers.
Let the design dry for at least 2 hours.
Lay the napkin out flat. Add ribbon or trim along the bottom edge using fabric glue. Let the glue dry for 24 hours.
Display for Thanksgiving and enjoy the memories you are making with your little!
