Easy Spring Rice Krispie Treats
by Laura Carrozza, Mar 22 2016
Looking for a fun, yummy treat to bring to your next Spring gathering? Easter is right around the corner and this is a great way to show off your creative skills and even get the kids involved with this super easy, super fun and ridiculously tasty, all-time favorite treat.
This is what you'll need:
6 1/2 cups Rice Krispie cereal
1/4 cup butter
10 oz bag of marshmallows
1 TSP of vanilla
Sprinkles
M&M's
Step One:
Take a large sauce pan and spray lightly with vegetable or canola oil spray. On low heat, melt the marshmallows and butter together in the pan, mixing occasionally. Use a rubber spatula to mix. You may want to spritz the spatula with vegetable or canola oil spay as well.
Step Two:
Once the marshmallow and butter have melted together, remove from heat and mix in the vanilla. If you want to add a fun flavor to your treats, I suggest switching out the vanilla for peppermint extract or root beer extract. Dare to be creative and fun! There are no mistakes when being creative! Check out your local grocer for different flavoring you can add and share with us on social media! @craftboxgirls #cbgRiceKrispies
Step Three:
After you've blended the vanilla (or other flavoring) to your marshmallow mixture, fold in the Rice Krispie cereal, then add the M&M's.
Step Four:
On a lightly oil sprayed 9x13 baking pan, pour your mixture into the pan and spread evenly using the spatula. Pour sprinkles and M&M's over the top and then spritz the spatula with oil spray and press on the mixture in the pan to compact it and so the sprinkles and M&M's will stick to the marshmallow. Allow it to cool completely before cutting in to it. I put it in the fridge to speed up that process because I was itching to cut into this bad boy.
Once you're ready to eat, cut it up however you like...into squares, using cookie cutters, put skewers into it to make a Rice Krispie pop. Whatever you like! Here's another fun tip idea: replace the 10 oz bag of marshmallows, for 10 oz of marshmallow Peeps for a fun pretty colored Rice Krispie treat! Enjoy and share your fun tasty Easter creations with us!
Happy Easter!
