3 Creative Ways to Upcycle Fabric with Lace

by Lynn Lilly, Apr 19 2021

Growing up in the south lace was a way of life! It represents a delicate and feminine touch that is perfect for gifts, clothes and keepsakes. Lace is so pretty but so darn hard to work with until now! I recently discovered Aleene's Ok To Wash It, an adhesive that is designed to work with delicate lace trims, fabrics, ribbon and embellishments. It is non-toxic, dries clear, is machine washable with a flexible hold and of course permanently bonds. Plus it withstands the test of time and will not yellow. This is is especially important if you are creating a keepsake or adding lace to a memorable item like a wedding dress.

Adding a special delicate touch to home decor fabric can be as simple as quickly adding lace and it makes a huge difference.

To inspire you with some ideas I upcycled an apron, placemats and fabric gift tote. Check out the video to see how easy it is.

Supplies:

A few reminders while working on your projects:

  • Apply adhesive and firmly press together
  • Allow 3-5 minutes to bond
  • Let dry for 24 hours.
  • Wait 7 days to wash. When washing, wash inside out on a gentle cycle.

Check out the before and after of each project!
