Project 1: Tissue Box Monster Shoes

Tissue Box Monster Shoes

If your kids love to play dress-up like my little Lily they will love these monster shoes!

Materials:

  • 2 Tissue Boxes
  • Crayola Construction Paper
  • Crayola Model Magic
  • Crayola Washable Glue
  • Googley Eyes
  • Pom Poms
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Pencil
  • Scissors

Directions:

  1. Cover 2 tissue boxes with construction paper leaving the opening uncovered. Pick your favorite color of construction paper for your monster.
  2. Cut zig-zag strips of construction paper to glue around the bottom of the box. This will hide any short edges.
  3. Draw and cut teeth on white construction paper. Glue them around the opening on both tissue boxes.
  4. Pick your favorite color of Model Magic. Pull off small pieces, roll them into balls and flatten. These are going to be monster spots. Make enough to glue all over both boxes. Attached them Crayola Washable Glue.
  5. Glue googley eyes on the top ends of the boxes. If you do not have googley eyes, you can draw them with markers or cut them out of construction paper.
  6. Curl 4 pipe cleaners into spirals. Glue pom-poms to each end. Glue two to each tissue box.

TADA your kiddos have Boo-tiful monster shoes for dress-up!

Tissue Box Train Back to School

Materials:

  • 2 Rectangular Tissue Boxes
  • 1 Square Tissue Box
  • 1 Craft Roll
  • Crayola Construction Paper
  • Crayola Glue
  • Small piece of polyfill or cotton
  • Scissors

Directions:

  1. Cover the rectangular tissue boxes with construction paper.
  2. Cut a decorative border to go around the bottom of the rectangular boxes.
  3. Cut the square tissue box in half and cover it with construction paper.
  4. Cut two strips of construction paper and glue them around each other to create a chain link.
  5. Use the chain link to glue the two rectangular boxes together.
  6. Cut a piece of construction paper to the width of the square tissue box and about 3 inches longer. Glue this to the edges of the box curving it over the top to create a roof.
  7. Glue the half-square box to the top of the front rectangular box on the half closest to the linked end of the box.
  8. If you have a paper-towel roll size craft roll cut it in half and cover with a construction paper.
  9. Cut a similar piece of construction paper for the roof of the front half of the train. Before gluing cut a hole for the craft roll to go through the center of the roof. This is the train steam stack.
  10. Finish the train by placing a little bit of cotton/polyfill coming out of the stack.

Fill the back car of the train with school or craft supplies and display at a work station.
