4 DIY Ornaments

by Lynn Lilly, Dec 21 2016

Christmas is almost here but there is still time to create a new family tradition. Each year I make new ornaments for our tree and spend time reminiscing over the handmade ornaments from years past. Christmas Eve is the perfect night to start a family tradition. Have each family member make an ornament and hang it on the tree. This will create warm and happy memories for years to come. Check out these 4 simple do it yourself ornament ideas!

Snow Globe Ornaments

DIY Snow Globe Ornament

  • Plastic ornament
  • Thin cardboard (cardboard coaster works well)
  • Small trinkets
  • Hot glue
  • Pipe cleaners
  • White tissue paper
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon
  • Xacto knife

  1. Using the Xacto knife cut a circle out of the bottom of the ornament.
  2. Cut a piece of cardboard into a circle a little larger than the circle you cut out of the ornament.
  3. Glue trinkets to the cardboard circle.
  4. Place the ornament over the trinkets resting it on the cardboard.
  5. Use hot glue to secure the ornament to the cardboard.
  6. Glue a pipe cleaner around the base of the ornament to hide the glue.
  7. Remove the top from the ornament.
  8. Cut tiny pieces of white tissue paper and stuff through the top of the ornament and replace the lid. This is the snow.
  9. Add a ribbon and pipe cleaners to the top.

  6. Brown pipe cleaners

  8. Scissors

  1. Cut felt into strips and stuff inside the ornament.
  2. Glue eyes and nose on the front of the ornament with the hot glue gun.
