Summer is almost here and I am excited to get my yard ready for baseball season. This tutorial is to make a Braves flag but you can take this easy no sew technique and apply it to any theme.
Materials:
- 40 x 14 inches of burlap (Purchase at Michaels)
- 14 x 12 inches of red chevron canvas (Purchase at Hobby Lobby)
- 2 pieces of 14 x 1.5 inches of navy blue cotton fabric (Purchase at Hobby Lobby)
- 4 strips of 14 inches of white rick rack (Purchase at Hobby Lobby)
- 12 inches x 12 inches of navy blue cotton fabric (Purchase at Hobby Lobby)
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Braves logo. We printed out the logo from Sports Logos.net- you will find most sports team logos on this website.
- Chalk
- Rust-Oleum Never Wet Outdoor Fabric Spray (Purchase at Home Depot)
- Garden Flag Pole (Purchase on Amazon or at a local garden store)
Instructions:
- Cover a flat surface with parchment paper.
- Fold burlap in half. Glue sides from the bottom up with hot glue gun - leaving the top 2 inches of the sides open (you will need this opening to insert on the flag pole). Glue the bottom edge together.
- Center your piece of chevron canvas on the burlap and use the hot glue gun to glue the edges of the canvas to the burlap.
- Line the top and bottom of the chevron canvas with the 14 x 1.5 inch pieces of navy blue fabric. Glue these pieces down with the hot glue gun. Make sure the edges of the chevron and navy fabric touch.
- Line the edges of the navy blue fabric and the chevron canvas with the strips of white rick rack. Secure with the hot glue gun.
- Print and cut out your desired logo. Flip your logo over and trace the logo on the 12x12 inch navy blue fabric with the piece of chalk. Cut out the logo and flip over.
- Center the logo on the chevron canvas and apply with hot glue.
- Let the hot glue dry and your flag set for 15 minutes.
- Follow the directions on the Rust-Oleum Never Wet Outdoor Fabric Spray to ensure your flag is weather proofed.
Happy summer!!!
