As a mom of two girls, it is so important to instill in them that if they can dream it they can do it. From being a baker to a scientist the possibilities are endless! I am thrilled to team up with Betty Cocker™ to support the Barbie mission to close The Dream Gap. Through STEM, we’re empowering girls to believe that they can be anything. My daughter Lily is drawn to baking and getting creative in the kitchen. It is something we have bonded over and it is our special time together. I love that Betty Crocker and Barbie are helping me with ideas to add science into our baking activities. Lily was so excited to get the Baking Better Futures Activity Kit and try something new in the kitchen.

Directions:
- Bake the cake according to the instructions on the box. Bake them in two round cake pans. I always line my cake pans with parchment paper to make it easier to get the cake out.
- Stack the cakes. Hold the glass cup on top of the cake and use a knife to trace around the cake. (adult job)
- Use the knife to cut all the way through both layers and remove the circle of cake.
- Take the top layer off. Spread icing on the top of the bottom layer. Replace the top the layer.
- Place the cup in the open circle.
- Use a knife to shape the cake into a volcano. (adult Job)
- Spread icing all of the volcano.
- Have some fun decorating with sprinkles.
- Parents, wear gloves and use tongs to place a piece of dry ice into the glass cup in the center of the volcano. It is important to not touch the ice with bare skin or put in your mouth. It will burn. (adult Job)
Ready for the experiment? Pour a small amount of water in the cup and watch the volcano smoke! Lily thought this was so cool!
You can keep adding small amounts of dry ice to the cup to make it smoke more!
