Halloween Mummy Cans

by Laura Carrozza, Oct 11 2016

I'm so excited for Halloween! I love seeing how kids' imaginations come to life when they get to play dress up! And while you're planning for your costume and party this year, this is a super cute Halloween decoration that your kiddos can make to help make the house festive for your Halloween party and to impress any trick or treaters that may stop by earlier.

What you'll need:

  • Empty soup cans
  • Cheesecloth
  • Googly eyes
  • Black craft paint
  • Paint brush
  • Hot glue gun

Step 1:

After you clean out the soup can and remove the label, paint one or two coats of black paint over the cans. Allow time to dry before adding the second coat.

Step 2:

Once the paint has dried, use the hot glue gun to attach the googly eyes on the cans.

Step 3:

Next, add a small amount of glue to the back of the can and secure one end of the cheesecloth to the can. Then continue to wrap the cheesecloth around the can leaving a little opening for a mouth and for the eyes. Add a little drop of glue at the top to secure the other end of the cheesecloth.

Mummy Cans

And that's it! So simple and easy right?! Then you can use your mummy cans to decorate your house. They can hold candy or other treats for guests, or you can even use them to hold forks, spoons, knives and straws at your Halloween party! So cute! Plus your kiddos will be super excited to show all their friends how they helped decorate for the party. Have fun and enjoy!
