When the family gathers for the big Thanksgiving meal this year, I have a few tricks up my sleeves to keep them entertained and out of the kitchen. One is to feed them tasty appetizers which we have plenty on CBG website. The other trick is offer them a warm and delicious holiday drink to soak in the Thanksgiving goodness. That addictive new drink is called Thanksgiving Apple Punch.
Apples are abundant in the fall. If you like to make homemade apple cider then it'll go great with this Thanksgiving Punch. If you don't have the time for homemade then the grocery store is a great place to get apple juices and ciders. If apple cider is unavailable then unfiltered apple juice works just as great. For the adults, it's not a bad idea to keep a bottle of dark rum handy to add a splash of pre-dinner holiday cheer.
Ingredients:
3 cups Apple cider or unfiltered juice
1/2 cup Caramel flavor syrup
1 teaspoon apple pie spice
splash of dark rum (optional)
Gala apples for garnish
Cinnamon sticks
Directions:
In a medium sauce pan, combine apple cider or juice, caramel syrup, apple pie spice and 2 cinnamon sticks. Whisk the punch and bring to a boil. Then turn off the heat.
Pour the punch in a mug and garnish with slices of fresh Gala apples and cinnamon sticks. Add a splash of dark rum if this is for adults only. Stir with the cinnamon stick.
Sipping on this Thanksgiving Punch is like having dessert before the meal. The warmth will relax you and each sip puts all the right pieces together to make your Thanksgiving perfect.
