I can't get enough of dressing up sweet lily for Halloween. I think she is loving it just as much as I am! This girl loves the camera and we love her. Check out her latest do it yourself costume! She is rocking a no-sew baby mermaid costume made all with supplies from Michaels Stores and Hancock Fabrics.
Materials:
- 1 yard of Purple and Turquoise Tulle
- 1 yard of Scaled Fabric
- 1 Yard of Gold Glitter Ribbon
- Beacon Fabri-Tac
- Glitter Iron-on Vinyl
- Cricut Easy Press
- Shell
- Scissors
- White baby Onesie
Steps:
Measure your baby to determine how long you want the skirt. Double the length. Fold in half and use Beacon Fabri-Tac to hem the edges of the fabric.
Cut a piece of ribbon to the circumference of your baby's belly plus about 10 inches. Place the ribbon face down. Cut pieces of the tulle about 10-14 inches long x 3 inches wide. Fold them in half and use glue to the back of the ribbon.
Cut another piece of ribbon the same length as the original. Glue along the top edge of the fabric piece you cut in step 1.
Glue a shell in the center of the ribbon. Glue the tulle skirt to the bottom edge of the fabric. Keep the ribbon on the top edge long, because you will tie this around your baby's waist. Trim the ribbon on the tulle skirt so it is flush with the fabric.
Set the skirt aside and use your Cricut to design and cut shells on glitter iron-on vinyl. If you don't have a Cricut (you totally should) you can draw and cut shells by hand.
Use the Cricut EasyPress to adhere the shells to the front of the baby onesie. Heat the fabric for 15 seconds. Place the shells on the shirt and iron for 30 seconds at 330 degrees. Flip onesie over and iron for 30 more seconds.
Get your baby dressed in the onesie and tie the skirt around her waist or attach with a safety pin.
