Craft-o-ween has been in full effect at house for a few weeks. This is such a fun time of year to get crafty with your kids. This week on my weekly Crayola Facebook live broadcast I am sharing three fun costume ideas you can make with your kids. These costumes are fun to keep your kiddos busy and then have something to play with after!
Project 1: Construction Paper Masks
Materials:
- Crayola Construction Paper
- Crayola Glue
- Crayola Markers
- Mask Templates
- Scissors
- Ribbon/String
Have fun creating your own mask with the templates I created. Create a superhero mask, an owl or a pumpkin! The creativity is up to you! Add ribbon to the mask or use a paper straw as a stick to hold your mask up!
Project 2: Cardboard Owl Costume
Materials:
- Crayola Construction Paper
- Crayola Glue
- Cardboard
- Scissors
- Pencil
- String
- Owl Body Template
Directions:
- Trace and cut the belly and the wings of the owl on a piece of cardboard and on brown construction paper.
- Trace a second set of wings on brown construction paper and set aside.
- Glue the belly to the cardboard.
- Cut 2" strips of red, yellow and orange construction paper.
- Fringe cut each strip.
- Glue the strips across the belly of the owl.
- Take the first set of wings and glue to the cardboard. Glue to the belly.
- Take the second set of wings and cut each one into strips but make the cuts a wavy cut.
- Lay the wavy wings over the wings glued to the cardboard. Line them up as if you are putting together a puzzle.
- Partially glue each strip down and lightly fold up the wavy side to make it look like feathers.
- Cut owl feet out of black construction paper and glue the bottom.
- Add a string or ribbon to the top to wear around the neck.
Pair the owl the mask from the first project!
Project 3: Emoji Pendent Costume
Materials:
- Crayola Construction Paper
- Crayola Markers
- Cardboard
- Scissors
- Glue
- String/Yarn or safety pins
Directions:
- Cut and trace a circle on yellow construction paper. A paper plate works great as a template. Adjust the size of the circle based on the age/size of your child.
- Use markers to make your favorite emoji face.
- Either add string to for your child to wear around your neck or pin it to a shirt.
Have fun crafting!
