DIY Lace Shorts
by Laura Moore, May 14 2014
Lace shorts are all the rage this summer. They are literally all over the place and their super cute. They are also a great transition piece for the fall, however, they are hard to find and they can definitely be very expensive. So I figured I’d give it a go on a DIY lace shorts. They turned out pretty cute! Here’s how you can make them for yourself.
What you’ll need:
- Knit Shorts (I used these)
- 10 yards of lace
- Aleene’s Fabric Fusion fabric glue
- Foam sponge brush
- Scissors
Step 1:
Wash your shorts but don’t use a fabric softener. Dry them and get them ready for the lace.
Step 2:
Start at the bottom of the legs with the lace. Liberally glue the lace at the bottom of each leg and wrap around to the back. Use a blow dryer to help the drying process move quicker. Then begin to layer on top of the bottom layer, working your way up. The closer you overlap each layer of lace, the more lace you will need. For my shorts, I used all 10 yards of the lace.
Step 3:
As you slowly work your way up, allow a little time for the lace to dry. This project does takes time but its worth it and looks great in the end. Once you are complete, allow the lace to dry for a full 48 hours, clip any loose edges and then wash it on a gentle cycle.
Enjoy! - Laura
