St. Patrick's Day Tote Bag

by Lynn Lilly, Mar 01 2014
This is not scientific, however, I can pretty much guarantee that IF you arrive at a St. Patrick's Day parade with a snazzy bead bag your chances of increasing throws improves. Last year I tested this theory with a monogrammed bead bag and I'm happy to report that I returned home with a bag full of beads, plastic cups and even a bar of Irish Spring or two. Worse case scenario, you have a cute bag that can function as 1. a bag to store whatever you end up catching and 2. your source of green to prevent getting pinched.

PLEASE, for all things holy and good do not go to a parade and put your loot in a plastic grocery bag when you can make this St. Patrick's Day Bead Bag in less than 10 minutes. That's right. 10 minutes.

Are you ready?

Let's get bead bagging.

Here's what you'll need:
  • Canvas Tote Bag
  • 2 Over-sized Jump Rings
  • Package of Beads
  • Pretty Flower
  • Needle & Thread

First, slightly pry open your jump rings. Place the beads inside the circle of the opened ring and then close it back shut. Using your needle and thread, attach each jump ring to the area of the bag- making it look like your bag is wearing its own necklace. (Jump rings found in the jewelry section of your craft store). Attach a fabric flower pin or button and head to the parade. Voila. Done.

If you'd like a tutorial on making the flower pins, just comment below and I'll whip one up for you.

Happy Parading!
