Wedding Garter

by Laura Moore, Feb 07 2016

Wedding season is upon us! My refrigerator is decorated with save the dates and wedding invitations. With my first wedding anniversary quickly approaching, I still remember all the planning involved. Two of the DIY accessories I made for myself for my big day were my birdcage veil and my garter belt. Here’s a little rundown on how you can make your own garter belt.

What you’ll need:

  • Stretchy lace ribbon
  • Rhinestone applique
  • Needle and thread
  • Rhinestones/pearls
  • Alene’s Flexible Stretchable Fabric Glue

Step 1:

Measure you leg and cut the lace exactly to the size of your thigh. You want it somewhat fitted so it stays on your leg.

Step 2:

With thread and needle, sew on the applique in the center point of the lace.  Stitch and/or glue on rhinestones and pearls.

Step 3:

Turn the lace band inside out and sew raw edges together.

Enjoy and happy wedding planning!

P.S. Your new garter can also be used as a headband! EEK!! Double win!
