- 9 Sheets of Blue Construction Paper
- 2 Sheets of White Paper from the Paint Kit
- Washable Markers
- Erasable Colored Pencils
- Washable Liquid Glue
- Washable Glue Stick
- Scissors
Additional Materials:
- Small Bowl (or something circular)
- Coat Hanger
- Ruler (optional)
Directions:
- Cut out 52 strips of blue construction paper 1.5" wide. Start cutting on the short side of the construction paper.
- Cut the 52 strips in half, so you will have 104 total strips.
- Use your glue stick to add glue to the edge of the strip.
- Fold the strip over on itself to form a loop.
- Press down to secure it. This is the first link.
- Take another strip of blue construction paper and loop it through the first link.
- Put glue on the edge of this strip.
- Fold it over itself, and press down to secure it.
- Repeat steps 4-9 until you have a chain of 12 links.
- Once you have 12 links, take a 13th strip of blue construction paper and loop it through the last link and the coat hanger.
- Put glue on the edge of this strip.
- Press down and secure it. We now have our first chain done.
- Make 8 more chains and attach to the coat hanger.
- On each sheet of paper draw a cloud shape with blue marker and cut it out around the blue lines.
- Put liquid glue on the bottom of the hanger and glue the large cloud to the hanger.
- Put liquid glue on the bottom of the big cloud and glue the small cloud to it.
- Fold a piece of yellow construction paper in half long ways and cut along the folded line. Do this with a second sheet of construction paper. You will have 4 pieces of paper.
- Fold the end of one side of the paper.
- Flip over the paper, and fold. This is an accordion fold. Keep folding until you reach the end of the paper.
- Accordion-fold the other pieces of paper.
- Glue the 4 pieces of paper together.
- Glue the pieces of paper together so it makes a circle.
- Use the liquid glue to bring the paper together in the center. Let dry. (If you having trouble holding it in place you can use a piece of clear tape to hold it in place while it dries.
- Use your small bowl or plate to trace a circle shape on yellow construction paper.
- Cut out the circle.
- Draw a happy face on the yellow circle.
- Place a dot of glue in the center of the circle and glue to the center of pinwheel.
- Put liquid glue on the bottom of the hanger.
- Place the sun on top of the glue.
- Let your paper chain wall mural dry before hanging it up.
