Make some sunshine on a rainy day! You can add a little sunshine to your room with this fun paper chain wall mural. Here’s what you’ll need to make this craft:

Project Difficulty: Beginner

Materials From Your Kit:

  • 3 Sheets of Yellow Construction Paper
  • 9 Sheets of Blue Construction Paper
  • 2 Sheets of White Paper from the Paint Kit
  • Washable Markers
  • Erasable Colored Pencils
  • Washable Liquid Glue
  • Washable Glue Stick
  • Scissors

    Additional Materials:

    • Small Bowl (or something circular)
    • Coat Hanger
    • Ruler (optional)

    1. Cut out 52 strips of blue construction paper 1.5" wide. Start cutting on the short side of the construction paper.
    2. Cut the 52 strips in half, so you will have 104 total strips.
    3. Use your glue stick to add glue to the edge of the strip.
    4. Fold the strip over on itself to form a loop.
    5. Press down to secure it. This is the first link.
    6. Take another strip of blue construction paper and loop it through the first link.
    7. Put glue on the edge of this strip.
    8. Fold it over itself, and press down to secure it.
    9. Repeat steps 4-9 until you have a chain of 12 links.
    10. Once you have 12 links, take a 13th strip of blue construction paper and loop it through the last link and the coat hanger.
    11. Put glue on the edge of this strip.
    12. Press down and secure it. We now have our first chain done.
    13. Make 8 more chains and attach to the coat hanger.
    14. On each sheet of paper draw a cloud shape with blue marker and cut it out around the blue lines.
    15. Put liquid glue on the bottom of the hanger and glue the large cloud to the hanger.
    16. Put liquid glue on the bottom of the big cloud and glue the small cloud to it.
    17. Fold a piece of yellow construction paper in half long ways and cut along the folded line. Do this with a second sheet of construction paper. You will have 4 pieces of paper.
    18. Fold the end of one side of the paper.
    19. Flip over the paper, and fold. This is an accordion fold. Keep folding until you reach the end of the paper.
    20. Accordion-fold the other pieces of paper.
    21. Glue the 4 pieces of paper together.
    22. Glue the pieces of paper together so it makes a circle.
    23. Use the liquid glue to bring the paper together in the center. Let dry. (If you having trouble holding it in place you can use a piece of clear tape to hold it in place while it dries.
    24. Use your small bowl or plate to trace a circle shape on yellow construction paper.
    25. Cut out the circle.
    26. Draw a happy face on the yellow circle.
    27. Place a dot of glue in the center of the circle and glue to the center of pinwheel.
    28. Put liquid glue on the bottom of the hanger.
    29. Place the sun on top of the glue.
    30. Let your paper chain wall mural dry before hanging it up.
