3 Kids Christmas Crafts

Ho Ho Ho.... did someone say Christmas crafts! Yes Please! With holiday break coming up that means a lot of free time for the kiddos right before Christmas so why not fill that time with Creativity. This week on my Crayola broadcast I am sharing 3 Christmas Crafts that are fun for all ages! 

 

Kids Christmas Crafts

Project one: Christmas Tree Banner

Materials:

  • Crayola Construction Paper
  • Pom Poms
  • Scissors
  • Crayola Washable Liquid Glue
  • Scissors
  • Hole Punch
  • Yarn or String
  • Crayola Glue Stick

Kids Christmas Tree Banner Craft

Directions:

  1. You will need one sheet of green construction paper for each tree you want on the banner.
  2. Start on the long side (12" side) of the construction paper and accordion fold the paper all the way to the end. 
  3. Fold the accordion in half and glue the inside of the fold together. 
  4. Use the hole punch to punch a hole in the top point of the tree. 
  5. Cut a small rectangle from brown construction paper for the tree trunk. 
  6. Glue the trunk to the back of the bottom of the tree. 
  7. Draw and cut out a star from gold or yellow construction paper. 
  8. Glue to the top of the three. 
  9. Use the liquid glue to glue pom poms inside the accordion folds. 
  10. Repeat these steps for each tree. 
  11. When all your trees are made string a piece of yarn or string through the holes at the top of each tree to create a banner! 

Christmas Tree Accordion Craft

Project 2: Gingerbread Man/WomanSurprise Pouch

I love this craft for kids and parents. Parents you can turn into a Christmas dinenr activity for the kids table.  

Kids Gingerbread Crafts

Materials:

  • Crayola Construction Paper
  • Crayola Crayons 
  • Crayola Glitter Glue
  • Crayola Washable Glue
  • Crayola Markers
  • Gingerbread Template

Directions:

  1. Have your kids draw and cut out the shape of a gingerbread man/woman or use the template I created. You can download it here
  2. Let your kiddos decorate the gingerbread man/woman with markers, crayons, glitter glue. Once they are done and it is dry trace it onto a second sheet of paper and cut it out. 
  3. Glue the two together and leave 1/4 of it open. Stuff it with crayons or a fun treat. Then glue it all the way shut. Use a clothes pin to hold it closed until the glue dries.
  4. Keep this until Christmas and pull it out either during/before/after dinner to surprise your kiddos. 

Project 3: Fingerprint Christmas Card

This is a fun parent and child craft for the younger kiddos. 

Materials:

  • Crayola Construction Paper
  • Crayola Washable Paint
  • Crayola Markers
  • Crayola Glitter Glue
  • Crayola Glue Stick
  • Wipes
  • Paper Plate

Kids Fingerprint Christmas Card Craft

Directions:

  1. Cut down a piece of red construction paper to the size card you would like to make. Fold it in half to create the base of the card. 
  2. Cut a piece of white construction slightly smaller than the inside of the card and another slightly smaller than the front cover of the card. 
  3. Use the glue stick to the white paper on the inside and leave the one for the front cover off the front. 
  4. Place a small amount of red and green washable paint on the paper plate. 
  5. Start with the loose white piece of paper. Let you kiddos stamp their fingers alternating one with red paint and one with green paint to make a candy cane shape. Let it dry. 
  6. On the inside of the card let your kiddos stamp their fingerprints in green paint to make the shape of a tree. Add decorations to the tree with glitter glue. 
  7. Once the cover and the inside are dry glue the candy cane sheet to the front of the card. 
  8. Use markers to write greetings and continue decorating!
