Spring Break Kids Crafts

by Lynn Lilly, Mar 06 2023

I can't believe how fast this year is moving along. It is already spring break time. Your kiddos might be on spring break this week or gearing up for a week off. If you are celebrating spring break at home I know it might be a struggle to find activities to keep your kiddos entertained. This week on my Crayola Facebook broadcast I am sharing 3 crafts that are perfect for a spring break activity at home!

You can shop all the Crayola products I used in the projects below at Crayola.com

Project 1: Flip Flop Banner

Paper Flip Flop Banner with Crayola

Materials:

  • Crayola Construction Paper
  • Crayola Markers
  • Crayola Crayons
  • Crayola Glue Stick and Washable Glue
  • Scissors
  • Flip Flop Template
  • Yarn

Directions:

  1. Download and cut out the flip flop template.
  2. Trace and cut the bottom of the flip flop on white construction paper.
  3. Trace and cut the thong of the flip flop on a colored piece of construction paper.
  4. Repeat steps 2-3 for how many flip flops you want on your banner.
  5. Use your markers and crayons to doodle and draw patterns on the flip flops.
  6. Glue the thong to the flip flop. Glue the center first. Glue the ends so they stick up a little bit.
  7. Glue a piece of yarn to each flip flop.

This is the perfect project to channel your summer vibes and add a decoration to your kids room.

Project 2: Paper Dolls and Carrying Case

When I was young I loved playing with paper dolls. I have not seen traditional paper dolls in a really long time so I thought I would bring back a homemade version. These are fun to make at home and then take on the road. I created all the templates so your kids can do the fun part! The best part is that if you snag the Crayola Colors of the World Crayons you kids can create dolls that look like them!

Materials:

  • Crayola Construction Paper
  • Crayola Colors of the World Crayons
  • Crayola Markers
  • Crayola Glue
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Paper Doll Templates

Directions:

  1. Download the paper doll templates. Cut out each template. Make sure to cut around the taps on the accessories and clothing.
  2. Trace the doll on white construction paper.
  3. Use the Colors of World Crayons to color the doll.
  4. Cut out the clothing, hair and accessories on construction. Use your markers to add decoration to them.
  5. Bend the tabs  back on the accessories to fit around the dolls. Switch out the accessories and have fun playing with your dolls.

If you want the outfits to be permanent use the glue stick to glue the tabs to the back of the doll.

Every doll needs a fun place to keep their clothes. Create a paper envelope or suitcase to store the dolls and all their accessories.
